Not tourist sites, Sisophon, the capital of Banteay Meanchey is in the northwest of the country. And so not many travellers keen to write anything about this province. But here is the first one, at least for the being.

So, it was no surprize that we discovered that we were leaving for Sisaphon, the next city on our list at dark o’thirty. What we were not prepared for was the condition of the road and the time it was going to take! We read in our guidebook that a certain airline has paid Cambodia not to develop this road, since it leads to the border with Thailand, so that more folks will take the plane trip. After spending time on this road, I now believe it. Wow, that was bumpy! Wow, that was some serious dust! As I said before, paving is a bit of an anomoly in Cambodia and the country is full of this very loose red dirt.
