This Saturday we like to invite you for a SPECIAL LIVE CONCERT at Meta House: WORLD FOLK MUSIC WITH THE “PHNOM PENH HIPPIE ORCHESTRA”
Meta House Music Club opens at 6PM on our rooftop with music videos and Brendan Toller’s documentary I NEED THAT RECORD (2008, 77min), which features interviews with indie legends Glenn Branca, Chris Frantz (Talking Heads) and Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth). It deals with far more than simply the dying indie record stores, but also is an insightful examination of the music industry as a whole.
At 8PM the PHNOM PENH HIPPIE ORCHESTRA (Guitar, Bass, Banjo, Ukulele, Violins, Mandolin, Balalaika, Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Accordion and Percussion) will play “unplugged” East-European, Arabian, Jewish, Middle/North-American Traditionals in our gallery!

“BERESINA”: BLACK COMEDY FROM THE ALPS WITH GERALDINE CHAPLIN
7PM: Weird jokes, surprisingly good actors and a satirical plot that gets better and better in course of the movie make “BERESINA” (1999, 108mins) a sadistic pleasure for every viewer. Director Daniel Schmid chronicles the story of Irina, a Russian call girl arriving in Switzerland, whose innocent attempt to live the high life there triggers unintended coup d’etat. BERESINA was noted for its barbed with clever production design and a fine comic performance by actress Yelena Panova when it was screened at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival. The film with Geraldine Chapline in a supporting role is screened in its German version with English Subtitles.
