It might all seem a war week if you’d look at the schedule, but I totally recommend all these war themed movies (as they are actually pretty good).

Do you remember when Russia invaded Georgia in 2008? Many people got killed because Russian wanted to get some more space, while the Georgians just didn’t have the manpower to defend themselves. The NATO did nothing and the Russians still have parts of Georgia under their control.

And what did the director of Die Hard II do? Right, he decided to make a good action movie about this story, without forgetting what this war was all about (the end is the part that might even hurt your soul). This makes 5 DAYS OF WAR (premiering in the USA on August 19!) a must-see for the coming week. Oh, and it stars Val Kilmer and Andy Garcia.

Especially for the French community in Phnom Penh we will be screening the French hit LE CODE A CHANGE (CHANGE OF PLANS) about this group of friends that meet up at an annual dinner party and everybody has its own thoughts about it and each other. Fascinating to see and we show it with English subtitles this Saturday only.

The surprise for this week is BURNING PALMS, an award-winning festival that contains outof five different stories. And five stories that will mess up your life forever. That’s all I have to say about that, come and see it for yourself.

THE STONING OF SORAYA M. is coming back for another week this Wednesday as it is just a must-see movie. To think that women are still going through this today, creates a sense of obligation to see this movie.

Tuesday’s Classic Night features a wonderful great movie: LA VITA E BELLA (LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL). About this heartwarming man that uses humor to make his son believe that the WWII is just a game. If you win, you win a tank. If you have never seen this movie, it’s time to see it on the big screen.

You will LOVE it.

As usual, it’s pretty much recommended to make reservations for this movie.

On Wednesday evening we are coming out for the Dutch community in Phnom Penh by showing the best Dutch movie ever made (as the critics say): BLACK BOOK. It’s about this girl who’s family gets killed by the nazis and she decides to infiltrate them to get back at them. With all the consequences that gives, from the Dutch resistance. We’ll show this movie with English subtitles.

It’s advertised as a movie for youth, but BEASTLY is anything but that. The title might make you think we’ll be playing some cheap horror movie, but anything but that. Take the most popular guy at school, the one with the biggest ego and let him meet a witch that makes him ugly until he finds his true beauty. Mindblowing story in a very remarkable film with an absolute original storyline.

For the kids this weekend we play THE LION KING and the brand new MARS NEEDS MOMS. If you don’t wish to spend any money or you only hang out with cheap charlies: Saturday at 4pm is our free screening time, this week with RED RIDING HOOD (with the guy from the Twilight movies, oooh).
