The U.S. Embassy, Phnom Penh, has recently become aware of an increase in presumed ATM/credit card fraud. Several people have reported that unauthorized transactions have occurred after using their ATM cards in Cambodia.
ATM fraud can take place in many different ways, but the most common is by ‘skimming’ card data as a transaction is made, while simultaneously recording the Personal Identification Number (PIN) which corresponds with the card.
