Cambodia, I’m here: film

Written and directed by Jean-Baptiste Phou, 90 min., 2010, French Version

The film captures a theatrical reading by Mathieu Pheng, made in Paris in April 2010 with Sonadie San, Piseth Malika Keo, Vantha Talisman, Chaya Roat and Santha Leng.

In this contemporary theater scene, four women confront both their pasts and their future aspirations. 20 year-old Sophea is a Khmer-French woman in search of her roots; 28 year-old Sovandara is the first to arrive in France to marry; 36 year-old Mom is a survivor of the genocide regime and today determined to adopt a little girl in her country of origin; 52 year old Metha was exiled before the war and is now returning to Cambodia to see her dying mother for the last time.
