From the kitchen to the bedroom to the living room, colorful hand-woven sedge mats have always had their place in the traditional Cambodia
n home. Once common in South East and East Asia, the traditional method of weaving sedge mats, however, has largely vanished. But in Cambodia’s Kandal province, the technique has been preserved.
Now Cambodian Living Arts is presenting a show of this intricate procedure, from cultivating the sedge to displaying traditional and contemporary completed mats.
