Prime Minister Hun Sen told last week United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon that he would not allow prosecutions at the Khmer Rouge tribunal beyond its second case.
However, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed hope today for accountability for atrocities committed by the brutal Khmer Rouge regime during an emotional visit to Cambodia’s genocide museum.
Here’s what reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP):
Clinton said Cambodia’s UN-backed war crimes tribunal “is bringing some of the people who caused so much suffering to justice … The work of the tribunal is painful but it is necessary to ensure a lasting peace.”
So what would be the outcome of their meeting today?
