Tonight (TUE, 16/11), 7PM, we invite you to film night focusing on women empowerment and women issues in Cambodia and Pakistan.
In the framework of our GENDERED LENS we are presenting NEW SHORT FILMS FROM THE CAMBODIAN “WOMEN’S MEDIA CENTER” – a Phnom Penh NGO using TV/radio to promote social change. They tell stories of a female moto-dub, a teenage newspaper seller and the deceased grandmother of one of the filmmakers. Filmmakers will be present.
Be our guest for this premiere screenings – followed by four short films from Pakistan, written and directed by female Pakistani filmmakers and produced by the NGO Scriptnet. NGO founder Ian Masters will be there to present the works.
This Wednesday, 17/11 & Thursday, 18/11 at 7PM we are proud to be able to screen “LOST LOVE” – A NEW AND GROUNDBREAKING CAMBODIAN FEATURE FILM ABOUT THE KHMER ROUGE REGIME. The story is based on the true story of Chhay Bora’s mother-in-law Nun Sila, whose father is executed by the Khmer Rouge soldiers. LOST LOVE premiered at the Cambodian International Film Festival in October 2010. At Meta House we sell tickets (5USD) to raise funds for the international distribution. One drink is included. Khmer students receive a 50% discount when presenting their student ID. Filmmaker will be present at the screening (Q&A).
