Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-Cam) launches 'the Preah Vihear Times'

The Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-Cam) is an independent not-for-profit, nongovernmental organization in Cambodia. It has two main objectives. The first is to record and preserve the history of the Khmer Rouge regime for future generations. The second is to assemble materials to serve as potential evidence in support of those who seek accountability for the crimes of the Khmer Rouge. These two main objectives—memory and justice—are the foundation for the rule of law and genuine national reconciliation.
In June 2011, DC-Cam will begin publishing a bi-weekly print and on-line newspaper called The Preah Vihear Times. It will focus on two main topics: (1) genocide/conflict awareness throughout the ASEAN region; and (2) topical issues in Cambodia and in the ASEAN region with crossborder implications or the potential to lead to conflict, such as land and natural resource

DC-Cam is recruiting five Cambodian nationals for the position of reporter for the Preah Vihear
Times. The requirements and responsibilities are as follows:
• Bachelors degree in media, social sciences or humanities (Anthropology, Economics,
Education, History, Law, Literature, Political Science, and Sociology)
• Knowledge of and strong interest in the field of journalism
• Advanced English writing skills and fluency in spoken English
• Research and interviewing experience
• Proficient computer skills
• Good photography skills
• Self-motivated, hard-working, organized, and able to work flexible hours

• Investigate and write about current issues facing Cambodia and Southeast Asia
• Write short summary articles, full length articles, and analytical articles
• Conduct interviews in Khmer and English
• Take photographs
• Report to the Editor-in-Chief on assignments and within deadlines
